Terms of Service
Effective 19 September 2026 · Android app com.chessproctor.app
These Terms are the agreement between you and Chessproctor for chessproctor.com and the Chessproctor phone app. Read them with our Privacy Policy. Using the site or app means you accept both. If you do not agree, do not use Chessproctor.
Questions: norednaonlineshop@gmail.com.
In short
- Play your own moves. No engine, book, coach, or second device during a live game.
- Be civil in chat and challenges.
- Do not attack, scrape, or break the service.
- Rated and tournament play may require camera, microphone, and a clean official app.
- The app is not available in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland; ads help keep it free where it is offered.
The service
Chessproctor is a phone app for rated chess and hosted events, not a public browser game.
Play is in the official Android app (Google Play package com.chessproctor.app). iOS is planned.
The website is for information, downloads, and organizer tools.
The service is free and shows ads in the official app. Features can change, go offline for maintenance, or be removed. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. The app and site are provided as is.
Availability (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Chessproctor is not available in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. We do not list or distribute the app for those countries. Do not download, install, or use Chessproctor if you are located there. Accounts created to evade that limit may be closed.
We do not provide a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP / UMP) for those regions because the app is not offered there. Expanding into those countries would require a certified CMP and updated Terms and Privacy Policy first. See the Privacy Policy for how ads work where the app is offered.
Accounts
You need an account to play. You choose a username, email, and password, or you may use Google or Facebook sign-in. Keep your password secret. Everything done on your account is your responsibility, including if you let someone else use it.
One person, one account, unless we say otherwise in writing. A new login can end your previous session. Do not share accounts, buy or sell accounts, or open new accounts to dodge a restriction.
Usernames must not impersonate others, claim a title you do not have, or use hate or sexual language. We can change or close a username or account that breaks these rules.
You must be at least 13 and old enough in your country to agree to these Terms. Chessproctor is not directed at children under 13.
Fair play
While a game you are playing is live, you must not use anything that improves your calculation or knowledge beyond your own mind. That includes, without limitation:
- Chess engines, tablebases, opening books, or move-advice apps
- Another person telling you moves (in the room, on a call, or in chat)
- A second phone, laptop, or camera pointed at the board to feed an engine
- Overlays, modified APKs, memory injects, accessibility scrapers, or auto-movers
- Leaving the app to consult an engine, then returning to play the suggested move
- Packet throttling, latency injection, or proxy tricks meant to hide how long you actually took to move (see Anti-Cheat Blitz & Latency Policy)
Also prohibited:
- Boosting — arranging wins or farming a weaker or sandbagging opponent to inflate rating
- Sandbagging — throwing games to lower rating
- Rage-sitting / aborting — stalling the clock or quitting instead of playing or resigning
- Sledging — using chat, draws, or challenges only to distract
- Public cheat-calling — accuse in private reports to us, not in chat
- Ban evasion — new accounts to dodge a closed or marked account
We may use camera and microphone checks, on-device analysis, Play Integrity tokens (official app and unmodified device) for every rated game, touch and timing telemetry, focus/tab-out records, optional Mutating Chess Pieces (piece art changes during the game), and post-game statistical review. Integrity Value ranges from 0 to 100. Dropping to 0 mid-game forfeits that game; players already at 0 can still play when the opponent’s IV filter is 0, and recover with clean rated games (+3 IV). We can forfeit a game, skip Elo, mark an account, or close it. We do not have to publish our evidence.
Hardware Lock, camera, or microphone may be required for rated or tournament games. If you refuse or turn them off when required, we can refuse the game, forfeit, or apply IV penalties. Rated play requires the official Play-signed app on a device that passes Google Play Integrity.
Casual rated play does not require government ID. A serious event may later require optional identity checks (KYC). If you enter that event, you agree to those extra checks.
Anti-Cheat Blitz & Latency Policy
Some queues use a specialized Anti-Cheat Blitz (Anti-Mirror) time control: a published S-MOVE / E-MOVE / TIME block schedule, unused time carried forward, and a finish grant. Those games are still chess. The clock is server-authoritative. Your phone cannot add time by reporting its own ping.
Lag refund ceiling. For each move, Chessproctor may refund only the server-measured round-trip time (RTT), and never more than 200 milliseconds (0.2 seconds). The charge is:
Net clock deduction = max(0.001s, time until your move arrived − min(server RTT, 0.2s)).
Latency above 200ms is charged to your remaining clock. Client-reported latency is ignored. A ping indicator in the app shows whether your connection is fully compensated, near the cap, or already charging the clock.
Your connection. If you enter a competitive phase-based (Anti-Cheat Blitz) game, you are responsible for a stable network under 200ms RTT. High ping, Wi-Fi drops, VPNs, and congested mobile data can lose you time. That is not a defect in the time control.
Network manipulation. You must not use artificial packet-throttling, latency-injection software, traffic shapers, or proxy / VPN setups designed to mask how long you physically took to play a move (for example to hide two-device engine mirroring). Those acts are Unfair Assistance and are an instant-ban offense: we may forfeit the game, mark or close the account, and refuse later sign-ups. We do not have to publish the telemetry that led to that decision.
Conduct
- No harassment, hate, spam, threats, or sexual content toward others
- No attacking our servers, exploiting bugs for advantage, or introducing malware
- No scraping other players’ cameras or private data
- Report security issues to us; do not use them
We can restrict chat, challenges, or the whole account. We may report illegal activity to the authorities.
Tournaments and organizers
Organizers may set time controls, rating windows, camera rules, and IV floors. Players who join accept those rules for that event. We are not a FIDE national federation. Event results are for Chessproctor unless the organizer says otherwise.
Your content
Games, chat, usernames, and other material you submit stay yours, but you give Chessproctor a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and use them to run and promote the service (for example game history and public event boards). Do not post content you have no right to share. We can remove content that breaks these Terms or the law.
Third parties
Google Play, Google/Facebook sign-in, Google AdMob (and related ad measurement), Gemini (rare camera verdicts), and widgets such as 2700chess have their own terms. We are not responsible for those services.
Ending the account
You can stop using Chessproctor and ask us to close the account (norednaonlineshop@gmail.com). See the Privacy Policy for what we delete. We can suspend or close an account for a Terms breach, legal risk, long inactivity, or if we stop offering the service. Some duties (fair-play records, limits on liability) survive.
If you think we closed or marked you in error, email us. We will look again. We do not have to share raw evidence. Our decision on the account is final except where the law gives you extra rights.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Chessproctor is not liable for lost ratings, lost tournament spots, lost profits, data loss, or other indirect harm from using or not being able to use the app. You use the service at your own risk. You will cover us for claims that come from your content or your breach of these Terms.
Changes
We may update these Terms and the date at the top. Keeping the app or site after a change means you accept it.
